Homemade salad dressing, definitely a crowd pleaser

OK, so you’ve been asked to bring something to a holiday gathering or simply a backyard barbecue. Here is a salad dressing that is my go-to staple and every time I bring it, people ask for the recipe. Below is the recipe... you can download it or screen-shot:

It is a homemade onion poppyseed dressing, and it is so simple to make as you put everything in the blender to blend it up.

This recipe makes quite a bit, so I like to keep it in a mason jar so I have it on hand in the fridge. I bring my mason jar of dressing with me and then once I arrive at the party I transfer to a prettier serving dish.

For the salad, I like to add romaine as well as a spring mix. I always have lettuce stocked in the fridge as we have salads in our home quite often.

Something you definitely will need to have in your kitchen is a good salad spinner. I am not joking when I say that my salad spinner I have had since my bridal shower 23 years ago. It still looks fine, it still works great band I use it probably three times a week. Again, this is where I think If you buy quality items, you will spend a little bit more, but they will last in the long run.

Here’s a link to the salad spinner that I have:

For a Thanksgiving salad, I like to add candied pecans, pomegranates, strawberries, feta cheese and cucumbers. There's a picture below on how to display it.

To make the candied pecans, on the stove simply melt butter, add your pecans, add sugar, cook until the sugar has melted into the pecans and transfer to a piece of parchment paper to cool.

If you’re going to a summertime, backyard, barbecue, I would simply add Mandarin oranges, strawberries, grapes, and toss in some chicken.

I like to mix it up and not always serve salad in a bowl. By serving a salad on a platter, it distributes the toppings more evenly as well as the dressing.

Plus, it definitely looks prettier.

So there you have it very quick and easy salad dressing that can go different ways. I use it in a holiday salad as well as a summertime salad. It’s worth making, as it’s certainly better than any store-bought I have found.

I might’ve been there and I do know this.
