If you have a child, that’s an elementary school, then you’re pretty familiar with the need to make a Valentine’s Day box. And kids love placing these on their desk and having their classmates go around and put their valentines into the box. I love when my kids brought these home from school, and we got to look over all the cute valentines, some simple and some elaborate.
While my kids are no longer making Valentine’s Day boxes, here’s a look back to ones from the past, and how to make a simple box that they can be proud of.

Ok we all know about using an old shoebox that you simply cover in either construction paper, or even a fun gift wrap. After the box is wrapped, simply make your slit in the top, and then the fun decorating can begin.
We have done that traditional way for many years, but sometimes if you think outside the box “ literally" you can have some fun with items that you typically wouldn't use for a Valentine’s Day box.
The birdhouse turned Valentine’s Day box:

Oh, here is one of my daughters that made her box look like the house from up. She used one of those crafty bird houses from Michael’s and put a flip top opening for the cards to be put in to the top of the house. Adorned with a dollar store heart balloon, She was so thrilled with how it turned out.

Another non-traditional Valentine’s Day box was made by another daughter who made a mushroom house. This was done using household items like toilet paper. Roll a canister. And tissue paper. The photo above is what her mushroom house looked like.
Here is a easier take on the Valentine's Day box... the Valentine's Day bag! This was soooo simple to make and my daughter was just fine with it. A bag, a piece of pink paper, a marker and a few stickers. All things we had around the house:

Now beyond the Valentine’s Day card exchange, there’s got to be some classroom decorations. In our elementary school, we were able to decorate the door. Here is an example of how we showed the teacher, some love and brought some Valentine festivities to the classroom.

So they have some ideas of ways to add some love to your child’s Valentine’s Day classroom experience. Add the love to these cute kiddos while you can as those elementary school years do you go by really fast. I have been there and I do know that.
