Homegrown sprouts- so easy and for pennies on the dollar

I am certainly a sprouts fan! I love them on some avocado toast or in a sandwich. They just give that extra bit of crunch and fresh deliciousness. Not all grocery stores carry them, or if they do, they’re actually pretty pricey.

Here’s a quick guide on how to grow them yourself quickly and for pennies on the dollar.

First step, you’ll need a mason jar, a vented lid and a bag of sprouts seat seats. All of those can be purchased with these links on Amazon.

Each time you grow a mason jar worth of sprouts it will be 1 tablespoon of sprout seeds. A bag of sprout seeds is going to last you probably at least a year.

Step one

Put 1 tablespoon of sprout seeds in a mason jar and fill it with water. Screw on the lid and allow the seeds to sit in the water overnight.

Step two

Empty the water out of the jar. Make sure you keep the lid on so that the seeds do not spill out. The water will simply go through the mesh on a lid.

Step three

Rinse the seeds with freshwater and flip them upside down so that they are no longer sitting in water. Allow them to sit on the countertop for a day. I like to keep mine by the window.

Step four

Repeat step three for the next four or five days. Depending on your growing conditions, a.k.a. your light, the amount of time will vary now. You will certainly see your seeds growing, and your sprouts filling the jar.

Step five

Once your jar is filled with your grown sprouts, simply take them out of the jar and put them into a container to keep in the refrigerator. Use your spouts up within the week.

That is it. Even if you kill all your plants, this is a plant that you will be able to grow. A small amount of effort for a huge reward. I might’ve been there, and I do know this.
