Investing in a fake tree definitely pays off in the long run

I know, I know, the smell of a real tree is something everyone loves. We have all been there and picked it out, brought it home, and then had to water it so that it wouldn’t die. Oh, I get it it’s a thing. But my advice to you is if you really want that then good for you! My tip though here is to give you less expensive options like buying a smaller little real tree that will give you that satisfaction without giving you a huge price to pay and then having your large purchase sitting in the trash bin when the seasons over. Another option would be to have your large fake reusable tree and then there are these great hanging smelly sticks that go into the branches of your tree to bring the smell of Christmas home.

Then here is a link to my absolute FAVORITE Christmas smells.. THYMES FRAISER FIR. I have the fragrance oil that I put in a diffuser and it smells soooo good! Trust me, it's a buy! Not only do I have the oil and I have used it for more than one season, its a great gift! Here's the link to buy it online...

If you want to shop all their products, here's a link, but I will say they are more expensive so if you want bang for your buck, I would stick with the oil as a little bit goes a long way.

So about 15 years ago my husband and I purchased a 9 foot pre-lit tree from Costco. Back then this ran about $400. I know the price of fake trees has gone up, but so has the price of real trees. If you purchase a real tree at 9 feet tall Would cost well over $200. Therefore making that one time investment in the fake tree has certainly paid off over and over. This is the same tree as above, same room, just different decorations.

So is there a time limit to a fake tree? Well... yes and no. Yes, things like lights go out. Here we are 15 years later, and my lights stopped working. Do you know what I did, I just bought more lights. I love the look of the little twinkle lights in all white, so I just re-wrapped the tree with these lights without even take it off the old ones. Now my tree is still game on. New life for a very small price. Here's a link to some new lights:

Once you put on all the decorations, you can’t even tell. Every year we say “maybe we should get another tree since the lights don’t work”, but then we think about it and for something that’s up for two months out of the year, and it’s already owned, we just put that baby right back up.

Now not only do we have the big tree downstairs, my kids also have their own trees in their rooms. This they love. They have their own decorations that go with their room as well as the ones that are homemade. There's nothing better than seeing you child go to sleep to the glow of their tree. Now for these, I purchase them again years ago and on a Black Friday discount at Micheals Craft Store. They were not pre-lit, so I just added an in-expensive strand of white LED lights. These pics are the same tree, same room, same kid... just older with different decor.

Now to store their tree, I actually tossed the box and I put them in a black trash bag that I tape the label "Kids name room tree" and I also put a shoe box with their strand of lights and their decorations. Everything including their stand does into that trash bag. This makes it organized and easy to put away and pull everything back out that following year, and without the need to add more expense to you. These last for years!

So my mama advice for you when it’s time for you to have your own family and your own big tree, go fake. It certainly pays for itself time and time again and it’s one thing I just don’t even have to worry about. I simply grab the tree bag from out of the garage, the decorations and call it a day. I’d rather save my money and spend it on buying gifts then buying a tree I’m just going to throw away. Trust me as you get older there just seems to be more people to buy for.

Spend the extra money on making someone else’s day rather than on a tree to throw away. I might’ve been there and I might’ve done that.

Mama
