OK so now that we have the treehouse complete, it was too far away for the bathroom emergencies to run up to the house and relieve themselves. So what the hay, we decided to put in a bathroom.

Here’s how it started:

And here’s how it ended:

Luckily we had space next to the treehouse to put in an outhouse bathroom. So, if we’re already going through the hassle of adding a bathroom with a toilet and a sink, my husband figured hey let’s just put in a shower so treehouse could be used as sleeping quarters.
Here’s what it looked like as we underwent the building of the bathroom:

Once the structure was built, it was time to add the interior tile, flooring, vanity, shower, and all those other things that go into a bathroom.

We purchased a vanity like this one:
A round mirror found here:

A shower door that was on sale at Costco, and we outfitted the shower and vanity with gold fixtures. We bought the shower and sink fixtures on Amazon and I love them.

We used a nice travertine for the shower walls and it does have marble floors, but it wasn’t a crazy amount of square footage so we went for it. I will say my big splurge in this bathroom was the wallpaper. When I decided I wanted to wallpaper one wall and began my search, I found the Spoonflower brand and I couldn't find something quite the same to the designs they had. I knew I wanted something funky and fun and being that we have goats in the yard that the treehouse balcony has a view of, goat wall paper it was. I found the perfect wallpaper at Spoonflower. I ordered a couple rolls which was a splurge and then I did the installation myself as it was peel and stick.

Why the goats? Because we actually do own three goats that are kept in viewing distance from the treehouse. Here’s the inspiration behind the wallpaper: Meet Rosa, Sparkey and PJ our pet goats:

Honestly, in my opinion it turned out so cute. There’s the final product of the bathroom.:

So now that there was a bathroom and a bed, it really could be lived in. This turned out to be a huge blessing, because while it was my daughters treehouse, and she used it on occasion, my father became too ill to live on his own and need a place for him to stay. In another post I’ll let you know the ins and outs of having an aging parent living with you. The struggles yet the blessings of being able to care for them and have them so close to home. The treehouse provided this with enough space for him to live as in his state he just needed a bed, a television and a barka lounger. The bathroom was built and his meals I would provide him with anyways.
The treehouse was not built as a place for my aging father, however what a blessing it was to have the space in his time of need. I think that quite possibly this was all meant to be. Sometimes in life, we do things that may seem unnecessary at the time, but prove in time why they are needed. We found this was the case with the treehouse. It all worked out just right in the end. We might’ve been there, I'm glad we built that.
