When the time comes in your journey into adulthood, you've gotta know that you're going to do the sexy adulting subject of buying a vacuum. When that time comes, I've got some advice for you and that's to spend the extra money and get a Dyson. I know that when you have to buy something as boring as a vacuum, it’s easy to just want to spend a little bit of money and think it’ll get the job done. That would certainly be one of those choices when you get what you pay for.

About 12 years ago I bought this Dyson stick vacuum when they had just come onto the market. What first really sold us was that there’s no cord, it’s handheld and they said that it worked really well. With kids and indoor dogs, I needed something that worked and was easy to use. I purchased the Dyson V6 animal cordless and I know that by now there’s been many upgrades to this model of vacuum. I have not needed to upgrade though. My animal V6 still does the job every day just fine.
I also do have a big normal vacuum for carpets that is also the Dyson Animal Ball vacuum and it works great. However, I will say I don’t really need to use it that often. Our house does not have carpeting, we have hardwood upstairs, stone downstairs and we just have area rugs in different rooms. I occasionally pull out the bigger vacuum when I want to do a deeper clean, but really that doesn’t happen that often. I just go over everything with my Dyson stick vacuum.
So being that my vacuum is so old maybe you are wondering how it has lasted with on the same battery? Well, after 12 years when I noticed the battery wasn’t lasting as long as it used to, I simply went on Amazon and ordered a replacement. I have also replaced the bottom Motörhead where it spins and sucks all the things into the vacuum. This was also bought on Amazon and it was only $30. Way better than buying an entire new vacuum.
Below is the before of the worn-out bottom of the vacuum:

And here is the new one I ordered off Amazon:

That’s the point I want to get across to you. If you buy something that is a better quality, it really will last a long time. Along the way you might need to order a replacement part here or there, but this is so simple thanks to Amazon and very inexpensive. I don’t feel the need to buy a whole other stick vacuum just replace the battery.
Here are links to the replacement parts that I have bought for my Dyson so you can get an idea if you need to order these parts.
So, when is the best time to buy a Dyson stick vacuum? Black Friday. Since I bought mine 12 years ago, this has been the product that is on sale every single black Friday. Typically they run a little over $400. Black Friday you can pick them up for about $249. Yes, that is a great savings.

I know the subject of vacuums isn’t super thrilling, but I will say that having this tool does make me happy because it greatly reduces my workload. Every single day I use this to pick up any dirt that was tracked in from shoes, animals, hair, crumbs, or anything else that is on our floors. There’s no annoying cord to deal with. I just keep it plugged in on the wall in my pantry and I have it ready to go whenever I need it.
Doing things like vacuuming daily cuts down on your workload because when it comes to household chores, my motto is to do it daily so you don’t have to spend so much time as if you had let messes pile up. I make it a habit, and it has become a no-brainer in my morning routine.
So there you have it, a vacuum is definitely on the list of things to buy quality on. Spending a little bit of money upfront is going to last you over the years. I might’ve been there, I certainly do know this
