"Please don't die"... This was something I would pray for every time I used to buy a pretty houseplant. I would bring one home from the store and then relyed on hope and a prayer that they would make it. Well, I can tell you from experience that there is a trick or two when it comes to taking care of houseplants. No, they are all not created equal and some need more love than others, however, there is an easy trick that I use and I can tell you it does work. So what’s the secret?
Ice, Ice Baby!

Yes, ice cubes are a great way to take care of and water your house plants. Why do you ask? Because when you water plants with ice cubes, they get a nice slow water as the ice cube melts so they can absorb more water, rather than the water just going through them.
Here’s what it looks like when I water my house plants

Some plants will tell you that they are thirsty by drooping, and others seem to just die overnight. I water my house plants twice a month with my ice cube method.
How can you remember to do this? By putting it on the calendar. I do have a monthly calendar that I live by. However, if you are more techy, simply add a reminder to your phone. That’s probably the simplest way to remember and your phone will automatically alert you as well as repeat monthly for you to do this.

So the quick tip here: water with ice and also get a reminder on your phone so that you do not forget to water before it’s too late.
Before I started doing this, I certainly killed my fair share of houseplants. Once I started doing this the results were drastic. I have now had the same houseplants for years. These are very simple steps with very little effort to keep your plants from dying on you. Trust me I might’ve been there and I do know this.
