Teaching kids how to rollerskate with the help of a walker

So this is a quick tip for all you parents out there for when it comes to teaching kids how to rollerskate. With four daughters we have definitely gone through so many pairs of rollerskates. The old-fashioned four-wheel kind to the incline skates, we’ve been there.
So what is the easiest way to teach them beyond holding hands and the parent walking backwards while the child kind of falls leaning towards you to then it inevitably being a little messy and unbalanced. Bring on the walker.
Being that my husband had been in an accident and we had all kinds of handicap devices still in our garage, we had a few different kinds of walkers. The kids have fun playing with them and this fabulous device perfect teacher when it comes to learning how to rollerskate.
Here’s a glimpse what a great tool this is for learning to roller-skate. This is for a helpful balancing act while your children get their grips and build their confidence to move on wheels.




Once a bit of confidence is instilled, thanks to the balance of the walker, little by little they can push the walker out in front of them and rollerskate over to grab it. Always remember to keep the helmet and the pads on when they’re learning as falls still do happen.
