When you can’t find your bin color, just make your own- Hello Spray Paint

So years ago when we first built the art barn, I knew that there was going to be so many bins of crafts on the shelves. I certainly do love having everything organized and in bins, but I didn’t want clear bins where I could see what was in them. To me that just looks cluttered.

So what was my fix spray painting those clear bins with a color of spray paint that was similar to the walls. This makes for a clean cut cohesive look.

I know that you can purchase different colors of bins, however, I was certainly working on a budget and I needed something to look good but not break the bank.

Spray painting the bins gave me the look I wanted for much less. Now I know what you’re thinking, doesn’t the spray paint just scratch off?  Well, after having the art barn with these bins in it for over nine years and getting a ton of use, I will say the amount that it has scratched has been minimal with a ton of wear and tear. The fix to this is just keeping one extra canna spray paint and that color if you do need minor touchups.

Once the bins have been spray-painted, and there are items placed inside, by labeling the outside it made it easy to know what was in each bin without digging through them.

Make sure when you are spray painting your bins that you spray paint the outside and not the inside. The inside will make for more scratches. With the label on top of the spray paint it doesn't peel off and it keeps everything looking nice

I do you feel strongly that when it comes to organizing, the bins that you use need to look cohesive so make sure they are the same. If you have everything perfectly organized but you are using different bins, it automatically makes everything look more messy. I certainly have been there, and I certainly do know this.
